Chapter 1
Pittsboro, New Hampshire
Kensington Apartments
Pik looked at the photo one more time and the address on the card before
slipping out the Jeep along with two other men.
"Make sure no one sees anything," he ordered as they headed towards the
building where their target lived.
"I don't like the idea of this, sir," Jerome said.
Pik's eyes turned hard. "You’re not paid for your opinions, remember that."
They headed into the hall, disappearing in to the dark recesses of the
stairwell to wait. Their target did not disappoint them, coming in a short
time later.
She was wearing a short black dress with dark hose and heels.
Pik came up behind her as she put the key into the lock, quickly covering
her mouth with a chloroformed soaked cloth. Pik wrapped his arms tightly
around her as she started to struggle before going limp, then picked her up
in his arms, moving swiftly towards the stairwell.
They got her into the backseat of the Jeep, leaning her limp form up against
his side so it would not look odd to passers by.
"She's a major babe," Tom said staring at her over the front seat.
"She's a target," Pik said his voice cold. He looked down at her face.
'She's pretty though, what a shame.'
They pulled out and made the hour trek to the safe house without incident.
